ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

Department of Commerce was established in the inaugural year of the college in 2015 offering two programmes under its belt namely B.Com General and B.Com TPP[Taxation Procedures and Practices]. In the year 2021, after the introduction of NEP-2020 which focuses on an objective of multiple disciplinary. The existing programmes were merged as one program named as B.Com.

The main aim of the Department of Commerce @ SMDC is to offer superior quality, affordable, professional & value-based education with view to build graduates with high ethical & leadership qualities. We are fully committed for excellence in commerce education. In a competitive environment in general graduates are expected to be competitive with wide range of knowledge, skill & attributes. Therefore, Dept. of Commerce intends to enlighten undergraduates to be in right endeavour by developing their distinct competencies with human values & professionalism which led them to be successful, employable & entrepreneurial graduates in the dynamic environment. Department of Commerce is fully equipped with a wide range of latest technology tools including Smart class, Communication lab and language lab. The Department welcomes you for achieving your goals.

The department has always strived in providing quality and value based education in the footsteps of the institution vision. The department started with a strength of 80+ students and now it is currently running with a strength of 140+ students in the department. Students who graduated are placed in top companies, cracked government, public sector examinations and serving in various sectors like taxation, administration and bank sectors, pursued higher education and graduated as professionals like accountants, financial and tax experts, lecturers, CA, CMA, CS and LLB.

To promote learning by engaging with students in advancing scholarly inquiry in commerce courses.
To cultivate creative and critical thinking in students by organising events, workshops and focus on communication skills to compete globally.
Intensive teaching methods, practical approach and analysis to nurture the students academically.
Fostering an environment to the students to tackle academic challenges and delivering the most promising citizens to the society.
